August Lineup for Bicentennial Park Summer Concert Series

Mayor Jeff M. Gahan and the City of New Albany are proud to present the August lineup for The Bicentennial Park Summer Concert Series!

Each show will be held on Friday nights from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in historic downtown New Albany’s Bicentennial Park, located at the corner of Spring Street and Pearl Street. These events are free and open to music lovers of all ages!

August 7th:

Big Atomic is a jam/funk/rock band from Murray, Kentucky. The band blurs the lines between funk, rock, rhythm and blues. From pulsing dance tunes to improvised extended jams, smooth r&b to funky rock and roll, Big Atomic has proved to be a very versatile group. Big Atomic is Ryan Gilchrist (vocals/guitar), Morgan McCall (drums), Matt Robinson (percussion), Andrew Stephens (bass guitar), Shannon Vetter (sax/vocals) and Micah Greene (guitar/vocals).

August 14th:

Marrow is Matt Carroll, Macie Stewart, Lane Beckstrom, and Liam Cunningham. The Chicago band released their first project entitled "TWO" in December 2013. Marrow is currently finishing up their first full length album entitled "The Gold Standard" to be released on September 4th, 2015.

August 21st:

Horseshoes & Hand Grenades - While strongly rooted in bluegrass, old-time, and folk music, the band produces a sound that draws on the vaults of music collectively and individually enjoyed throughout the course of their lives thus far. They have begun to form a place in the Midwest music scene, gaining recognition on both a regional and national scale. The band took 3rd place at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival's Band Competition in 2012 and has since shared the stage with Trampled By Turtles, The Travelin’ McCourys, Railroad Earth, Merle Haggard, The Infamous Stringdusters, Yonder Mountain String Band, Marty Stuart, and many more. The group’s third full-length Middle Western was released in March of 2015. Being mostly inspired by rivers, valleys, good friends, and good drink, this fivepiece is as sturdy as any Midwest riverbed and will make your toes tap from sundown to sunrise.

August 28th:

Anderson East is a new American artist hailing from Athens, AL. Known for his songwriting and unique vocal ability, he quickly caught the attention of renowned producer Dave Cobb. The Alabama native is currently finishing up his first long play due out 2015.

Brooks Ritter - An indivisible blend of voice, musicianship and songwriting that is capable of communicating the wide range of human emotion and illuminating our hopeful, fallen, love-sick, grasping condition. His lyrics are insightful and honest, his music displays the rare kind of versatility that makes you think and makes you move, and his voice is an instrument capable of subtle nuance and supple power that glides effortlessly through the realms of rock, folk and soul.
